Magnus Werdenskog has worked as a chef at Michelin two-star restaurant Aquavit in New York, one-star SK Mat in Gothenburg, and at the highly acclaimed Lisa Elmqvist in Stockholm. He has also held the Head Chef position at the exclusive cooking studio AVEQIA in Gothenburg.

Magnus was born and raised in the middle of Sweden, surrounded by forests, lakes and gardens. His mother sparked his interest in food at a young age but since then he’s added a few more role models; Christer Elmqvist who taught him everything about the classic kitchen and the finesse he learnt from Emma Bengtsson and Simon Ek at Aquavit.

Ben Straw has been in the wine industry for almost 14 years, firstly in retail for an independent wine merchant, doing some hospitality work in the side before offering wine tastings, training and corporate events.  In 2015 he created Lincoln Wine School to offer WSET courses to the people of Lincolnshire and beyond.

He holds the WSET’s Level 4 Diploma in Wines and Spirits. One of only 12,000 or so people worldwide to do so and is a Certified Educator on behalf of the Education Trust and travel round the country to help other Programme Providers in the UK.

I have created an exciting range of lessons aimed at Key Stage 2 & Key Stage 3 students. Also looking at expanding to Key Stage 4 GCSE students if enough interest is shown.

Cooking and Nutrition is a vital skill everyone should understand and be able to do.

Currently I am offering 2 days a month for Key Stage 2 & 3 so check out the calendar.

The lessons will have a short demonstration then straight into practical activities.

The skills we will be focusing on will be nutrition, cooking, baking, knife skills, weights, measuring,  life skills and food hygiene.

The courses will run for 3 hours and all equipment and ingredients will be provided.

All students will have an opportunity to look around Lincolnshire Cookery School to familiarise themselves and meet Fiona Lucas. This will help settle them in ready for a busy fun filled activity day where we will produce some fantastic food for all the family to take home.

BEER & PIE NIGHT WITH FERRY ALE BREWERY

Let us tempt you with 6 beer tastings from local brewery, Ferry Ales, and our own homemade pie & peas! AND take 6 beers and branded glass home with you!

Tasting of 6 beers on the night, a further 6 beers to take home, along with branded glass. All soaked up with homemade pie and peas.

John, Ferry Ales owner and head brewer, will talk you through the brewing process and each of the beers and their flavours. Whilst Fiona will make sure no one goes hungry with her homemade pie and peas..she’s a Yorkshire lass after all.

Further bottles and gift packs will be available to buy on the night.

Ferry Ales Brewery is an award winning brewery from Fiskerton just outside Lincoln. It was set up by John Cussons in 2016.  We brew three times a week and produce beer in bottle, cask and keg supplying to local shops including The Lincolnshire Co Op and to pubs and restaurants.

All the beers are suitable for vegans (except our coffee milk stout) and we are in the process producing a gluten free beer in the very near future.
